# Claude

## Prerequisites

Before you can use Claude with Connect AI, you must first connect at least one data source to your Connect AI account. See [Sources](/en/Sources) for more information.

## Connect to Connect AI

Follow these steps to add a Connect AI connector in Claude:

    Sign in to [https://claude.ai](https://claude.ai) or create a new account.

    Expand the left navigation menu.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    In the bottom-left corner, click your user name and select **Settings** from the menu. The **Settings** screen appears.

  <Step>
    In the **Settings** screen, click **Connectors**.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    In the top-right corner, click **Browse connectors**.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Search for *CData Connect AI*.

  <Step>
    Click **CData Connect AI**.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    In the CData Connect AI connector, click **Connect**. Grant access to the connector.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click **Configure** if you want to customize the permissions on the connector.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Review the provided tools to configure whether you want to **Always allow**, **Needs approval**, or **Block** specific tools made available by the MCP server.

    In the left navigation menu, click **New chat**.

  <Step>
    You can now start exploring your data with natural language prompts. Claude outlines the steps it uses to retrieve data from the source in Connect AI, using Connect AI's built-in tools. Depending on your tool settings when you configured the connector, Claude asks your permission before using the Connect AI built-in tools.
